Academics at Sandipani Vidyashram
At Sandipani Vidyashram, we are committed to providing a holistic education that nurtures young minds during their formative years. Our core focus is on instilling strong values, morals, and character, believing these are crucial foundations for effective nation-building.
Our curriculum, meticulously designed in accordance with CBSE guidelines and the progressive framework of the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020, spans from our youngest Kindergarten students all the way through Grade 12. This ensures a comprehensive and future-ready learning experience for every child.
As per the NEP 2020, we embrace the 5+3+3+4 pedagogical structure, which redefines the stages of school education to align with the cognitive and developmental needs of students:
- Foundational Stage (Ages 3-8 / Kindergarten to Grade 2): This crucial five-year stage focuses on flexible, multi-level, play-based, and activity-based learning. It encompasses three years of pre-school/Kindergarten education, followed by two years of Grades 1 and 2. The emphasis is on developing foundational literacy and numeracy, along with cognitive, socio-emotional, ethical, and artistic development, bridging the gap between home and formal schooling.
- Preparatory Stage (Ages 8-11 / Grades 3-5): This three-year stage builds upon the foundational learning, introducing more formal classroom interaction while still retaining elements of activity-based and discovery learning. The focus is on strengthening language and numeracy skills, and introducing core subjects like science and mathematics through engaging and interactive methods.
- Middle Stage (Ages 11-14 / Grades 6-8): This three-year phase marks a significant shift towards more subject-oriented learning. The pedagogy evolves to incorporate experiential learning across various disciplines, including sciences, mathematics, arts, social sciences, and humanities. The focus is on developing critical thinking, conceptual understanding, and exploring abstract concepts through engaging methods like discussions, projects, and hands-on activities, moving beyond rote
memorization. This stage also encourages early exposure to vocational subjects and skill development, preparing students for the broader choices in the Secondary Stage.
- Secondary / Senior Secondary Stage (Ages 14-18 / Grades 9-12): This final four-year stage is characterized by increased depth, critical thinking, and flexibility. It is designed to be multidisciplinary, allowing students greater choice in subjects across various streams (sciences, humanities, commerce, vocational) to cater to their individual interests and aptitudes. This stage fosters analytical and creative thinking, preparing students not only for higher education but also for diverse career pathways and responsible global citizenship. The curriculum emphasizes deeper conceptual understanding rather than rote learning, and encourages interdisciplinary approaches to knowledge.
The Academic Year 2025-26 commenced for all classes on 4 April 2025.
